Onwards to accountability!

Artwork TM and copyright Dan Tribe 2015 to 2023.

I will be using these updates to keep myself accountable for staying on pace with my production timelines. I also keeps me inspired to get the job done. That way if I slack off I know I'm disappointing so many of my loyal readers. It also gamifies my weekly schedule to see what kind of personal best I can achieve.

Production stats this week:
Script Pages Written: 16 Target: 4
Pages inked: 3                Target: 4
Pages coloured: 0           Target: 0 on hold till colour consult

Podcasts listened to: 3

Feel free to comment and tell me to pull my socks up!

Oh, hey I'm looking for interesting podcasts to listen to while drawing. Shoot me some suggestions in the comments below.

Another way I get inspiration is by receiving fan art or fan letters. I haven't had a ton in my career, but my daughter came up with some today which I thought was very nice, even though she misspelt the name of the character....

Note the 2 thumbs up and the power of fists!

It's a nod to the now sold out A Brigand's Tale #2 scene.

Born with my weapons. I feel ya, Brigand.

Here's the front and back covers in case you happen upon a copy out in the wild.

A Brigand's Tale #2. Check out my mad photoshop skillz using the blur filter...
Back cover just in case you missed the idea the first 5 times

This is of course my way of saying that any and all fan art sent to me will be:

  1. Wildly appreciated. It's super fun to see other peoples take on your characters.
  2. Featured in an upcoming post unless you specifically mark it 'not for publication'. If you include your social deets I will even give you a shoutout!

Apparently Netflix in making a show based on Naoki Urasawa'a Pluto, (which incidentally is based on an arc in Osamu Tezuka's Astro-Boy Manga).

Pluto, 8 volumes of awesomeness

Here's the teaser: https://www.netflix.com/au/title/81281344 I think I need to re read the manga, not sure I remember this bit...

Netflix series aside Pluto is a must read for aspiring comic creators. Urusawa's stuff is a masterclass in how to make comics.

Though even if you aren't interested in making comics it's worth the price of admission just for the story. He is just really good at inching up the stakes a tiny bit at a time until all of a sudden the fate of the world is hanging in the balance.

What's hitting this week?

  1. Proud dad moments come at the most unexpected of times. This instance was one of those times...

This is the exact transcript of a conversation I overheard this week from my two daughters.

Miss 10: How did Tite Kubo draw that so cool?

Miss 8: What?

Miss 10: Everything.

Miss 8: He's Tite Kubo man...

If you have to ask who Tite Kubo is, maybe you should ask my 8 year old. I mean, he IS Tite Kubo, man.
