What's Coming Soon G?
So you make comics, huh?
Well what have you done, G?
How can I get my hands on your stuff?
So glad you asked.
I am currently working away at what I like to call the anniversary edition of Trouble in Treelocke.
The very first 'A Brigand's Tale' Book published under the Bolt Comics banner.
I printed 200 copies and have managed to get at least 100 of these into peoples hands over the years.
It represents to me the fun of just making comics. It was a bit of a team effort(I had a letterer, and my brother came in clutch right at the end with his mad Manga Studio skills.) I didn't really set any arbtirary rules of doing things that have accidentally crept in since then.
Anyways, I'm doing a revised and expanded edition, including a big change in the format.
It will also feature extra content, and not gloss over some of the world building aspects I had to skimp on to keep it to the original 24 page limit.
That's the long way of saying I'm looking to relaunch the book and the series in 2024. I'm currently 12 pages in and I'm happy so far with the results.
I'm not happy about taking more than 3 months to get only that much done, but I have a system in place now to fix that (hopefully).
At some stage this year I think Bolt Comics Presents #7 will drop. It features part 2 of 'The Castle'. It's a three parter and introduces some dope characters. Part 3 is also contains the longest fight scene I have ever drawn (so far).
At any rate get on board with issue 6. Drop them a message on facebook or instagram and get some sweet aussie made comics goodness.
And if you think it's pretty grouse, you aint seen nothin' yet homie.
What's hitting this week?
- I currently can't get enough of the album A Fire So Big The Heavens Can See It by the band Search the City. It's actually been hitting for most of this year. You can join me and 41,455 good music afficionados on spotify to see what all the fuss is about.
- John Wick chapter 4. Just when you think they are all out of inventive ways to dispatch people to the afterlife, John Wick shows me there are still so many possibilities.
- Billy Fowler on instagram is tickling my eyeballs with his unique renditions of classic pop culture characters. You gotta check it out.
